Retired from racing at the end of the Indiana Meet in November and came straight to the farm and started under saddle, foundation work, and went out on trail rides. Some horses are born naturally bombproof and this is one of them. He doesnt have a mean or unwilling bone in his body. He is the EXACT same horse whether your ride him 5 days a week, 5 days a month, or 5 days a year. Videos above are his first ride back after approx 6 months off (this was due to no fault of his own. I experienced some family sickness, barn issues, and went on a small family vacation)
Has started jumping... he is by no means a pro, but he has never hesitated or refused anything he has been pointed at. He's a horse that is easy to over face and ruin bc he never responds with "no" and is always willing to try.
When I say this horse is safe, I mean he is SAFE. I would let my 6 year old ride him anywhere and my 2 year old has sat on him and been lead around. I can honestly say I have yet to find anything he will spook at or be bothered by... its turned into a fun game for the entire barn bc he simply just doesnt care about anything.
He's sound. He's sane. He has an exceptional disposition.
Currently barefoot bc we are only able to ride inside for the winter months and like to let them be barefoot (if they're able) but he is scheduled to get front shoes Monday 3-24 bc we will start riding outside as the weather allows.
His only downfall is he is a mild Caribbean. Its controlled with a collar. When I say controlled, I mean non existent. He doesnt need a special collar, it doesnt even have to be tight.
Stays fat on air. Gets along with other horses. Could care less if he is in a stall or outside... enjoys both. Rides with others, rides alone equally as well.
Good for the farrier, the vet, and hauling.
Excellent ground manners. Absolutely NO weird quirks.
